Villa Arcadio, Marbella, Spain, project: Maíz y Díaz Arquitectos
Arcadio Villa, located in the luxurious La Zagaleta residential complex in Marbella, stands out for its architectural design that is both minimalist and cutting edge. When designing this prestigious 3800 m² villa, the Spanish firm Maíz y Díaz Arquitectos made extensive use of glass and aluminium surfaces custom-designed by Kawneer.
Maíz y Díaz Arquitectos opted for wide glass surfaces with aluminium frames custom-designed by Kawneer to focus on the villa’s main structures and the sense of continuity between the inside and outside.
The glass facade of the main lounge has been developed around the AA100 facade system.
Kasting sliding widows, Kalory windows with visible vents and Kassiopée windows with concealed vents let natural light flow right through the house.
The monumental entrance is constructed around a large Kanada door.
“Aluminium adapts perfectly to this project, because our aim was to create a variety of different spaces, materials and textures. That is why we decided to use zinc, stone and slate etc., and aluminium fits in nicely with those textures”, so Miguel Maíz noted.
“This material also allowed us to create wide openings and large glazed surfaces. Aluminium is also a modern material that mirrors the house’s architectural style”. Right from the very first stages of the project, Maíz y Díaz Arquitectos was able to rely on technical advice from Kawneer staff.
“Kawneer teams offered to help us with all the technical aspects, providing vital support to ensure the success of this project”, so the architect Jesús Díaz remarked.
“Both for the technical solutions proposed during the early phases and the structures created to cater for these solutions, Kawneer experts adapted to the project’s specific requirements. Another feature that really convinced us right from the start was the breaking of the thermal bridge”, guaranteeing unrivalled heat insulation.
