Krion®, for a dynamic, multifaceted facade

Designed by Ragueneau & Roux Architectes, the Research Institute for Complex Atomic and Molecular Systems (IRSAMC) at the University of Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, embodies the Fédération de Recherche Matière et Interaction (FeRMI) in a very contemporary style, helping attract the attention of research groups and also promote scientific and industrial partnerships.

The building’s stylistic precision, which caters for the institute’s organisational and technical needs, is energised by a light and undulating façade made of compact Krion® K-Life 1100. Thanks to the performance of this new-generation solid S=surface developed by Krion Porcelanosa Group, the architects have designed a façade featuring wide, wave-shaped strips creating a sense of motion and luminosity that contrasts with the uniform colours and shades of the surroundings.

To create this undulating effect, we developed a support structure in a white finish that allowed each piece to be carefully positioned. Furthermore, the physical and technical clarity that Krion® offers, such as insulation, resistance to harsh weather, its almost imperceptible joints, and its resilience, gave the buildings an original, artistic touch.

As well as being hardwearing and hygienic, the white Krion® K-Life 1100 used to clad the façade makes it shinier and more energy-efficient to the benefit of the entire building.
