The
‘Forum d'Urbanisme et d'Architecture’ in Nice, a centre for hosting exhibitions,
debates and in-depth studies into issues related to architecture, town-planning
and the landscape, is showcasing the
work of two photographers from Nice, Anne Favret and Patrick Manez.

It
will be displaying over one hundred and twenty photographs of nine European
cities observed and studied from 2009-2022.
“After ten years working as architectural photographers documenting
buildings for the publishing industry”, so Yves Nacher noted, director of the
Forum, ʺAnne
Favret and Patrick Manez have become architecture photographers in the sense
that they transform built forms into complex images... offering us expertly
construed representations of places paying due heed to the various aspects and
facets of time. The
visions they compose are as much images to look at as they are images that look
back at us, question us and place us both in time and in the worldʺ.

This turns the artistic medium of photographer into a
vector for taking a curious and critical look at our European cities. “Photographic
portraits of nine cities emblematic of the origins, development and current
achievements of the European Union,” so the exhibition curator Marc Donnadieu
goes on to say, “affirm at the very deepest level this history of Europe and
its place in world history. Nine cities symbolising the conscious or subconscious
way in which Europe has helped develop the very notion of urbanity.”
