Implantée au pied du Château de Fougères, La Coursive est le nouveau centre d'interprétation de l'architecture et du patrimoine inauguré en mai 2025. Le musée est le résultat d’un projet de rénovation et extension qui regroupe trois bâtiments historiques emblématiques : l’ancien hôtel du Lion d’Or, l’ancienne école Raoul-II et la maison de quartier, reliés par une extension contemporaine élégante et minérale. L’ensemble s’inscrit dans le bâti existant tout en privilégiant une homogénéité des gabarits et respectant la notion de sédimentation des différents bâtiments, quelle que soit leur époque de construction.

Located at the foot of Château de Fougères, a fortified town in Brittany, La Coursive is a New Centre For The Interpretation Of Architecture And Heritage that opened in May 2025. The museum is the result of a renovation and expansion project that brings together three iconic old buildings: the old Hotel Lion d'Or, the former Raoul II School, and the community centre, all connected by an elegant and contemporary mineral-based  extension. The complex fits into the old structure, focusing on structural uniformity and respecting the concept of a sedimentation of different buildings, regardless of when they were built.

Situato ai piedi del Castello di Fougères, città fortificata della Bretagna,  La Coursive è il nuovo centro di interpretazione dell'architettura e del patrimonio, inaugurato nel maggio 2025. Il museo è il risultato di un progetto di ristrutturazione e ampliamento che riunisce tre edifici storici iconici: l'ex Hotel Lion d'Or, l'ex Scuola Raoul II e il centro comunitario, collegati da un'elegante e contemporanea estensione minerale.  Il complesso si integra nella struttura esistente, privilegiando l'uniformità volumetrica e rispettando il concetto di sedimentazione dei diversi immobili, indipendentemente dal periodo di costruzione.

Dans cette logique, la nouvelle extension, qui va occuper une dent creuse entre deux bâtiments, réinterprète de manière contemporaine les caractéristiques morphologiques des constructions limitrophes. A la pierre des façades anciennes répond un béton brut de décoffrage, à la texture rugueuse et d’une teinte claire et chaude. La mise en œuvre de cette nouvelle minéralité concilie changement et continuité.

In this context, the new extension, which occupies an empty space between two buildings, reinterprets the morphological traits of neighbouring constructions in a contemporary key. The stone of the old facades contrasts with rough-textured, light , warm-coloured concrete. Instilling a new mineral feels successfully continuity and change.

In questa logica, la nuova estensione, che occupa uno spazio vuoto tra due edifici, reinterpreta in chiave contemporanea le caratteristiche morfologiche delle costruzioni adiacenti. La pietra delle  vecchie facciate si confronta con il cemento grezzo, dalla texture ruvida e dal colore chiaro e caldo. L'implementazione di questa nuova mineralità concilia cambiamento e continuità.

Une très large ouverture s’expose sur le boulevard Faucheux et offre de larges échappées visuelles entre l’espace de l’accueil-boutique au rez-de-chaussée et la ville. Depuis l’accueil, on accède de plain-pied à l’exposition temporaire, à la salle événementielle ainsi qu’à un premier atelier pédagogique, tous regroupés dans l’ancienne école, à cheval entre la Maison des Associations et l’extension.

A wide opening faces Boulevard Faucheux to offer extensive views between the reception-shop area on the ground floor and the city. The reception area provides visitors with direct access to the temporary exhibition, event halls, and a first  educational workshop, all housed in the old between the Maison des Associations and the new extension.

Un'ampia apertura si affaccia su Boulevard Faucheux, offrendo ampie viste tra la zona reception-negozio al piano terra e la città. Dall'area reception, i visitatori hanno accesso diretto alla mostra temporanea, alla sala eventi e a un primo laboratorio didattico, tutti ospitati nell'ex scuola, tra la Maison des Associations e l'ampliamento.

Le parcours permanent d’exposition se déploie à l’étage, de nouveau à cheval entre l’extension et l’ancienne Maison des Associations. Le deuxième atelier pédagogique est positionné à proximité, à l’étage de l’école. Enfin, les espaces dédiés à l’équipe de la Coursive sont implantés dans l’intégralité du bâtiment du Lion d’Or.

The permanent exhibition is located on the upper floor, again between the extension and old Maison des Associations, where the second educational workshop is also situated. Finally, the spaces allocate for the Coursive team are set all around the Lion d'Or building.

La mostra permanente si sviluppa al piano superiore, sempre tra l'ampliamento e l'ex Maison des Associations dove si trova anche il secondo laboratorio didattico. Infine, gli spazi dedicati al team Coursive sono distribuiti nell'edificio Lion d'Or.
