NEW CENTRE POMPIDOU IN BRAZIL

CENTRE POMPIDOU X PARANÁ, FOZ DO IGUAÇU, BRAZIL. PROJECT: SOLANO BENITEZ

Après Malaga, Shanghai, Bruxelles, Alula et prochainement Séoul, le Centre Pompidou poursuit ses collaborations à l’inter­national avec l’ouverture, prévue en 2027, d’un Centre Pompidou x Paraná à Foz do Iguaçu, en partenariat avec l’ État du Paraná (Brésil). Implanté au cœur de la Triple Frontière, où se rencontrent le Brésil, l’Argentine et le Para­guay, le lieu mettra à l’honneur la création artistique du continent sud-américain mais aussi les dynamiques spécifiques animant cette zone de la tri-frontière.

After Malaga, Shanghai, Brussels, Alula and soon Seoul, the Centre Pompidou is continuing its partnerships with the opening of a Centre Pompidou x Paraná in Foz do Iguaçu scheduled for 2027, working in conjunction with the State of Paraná (Brazil). Located in the heart of the co-called Triple Frontier, where Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay meet, the space will showcase the creative artistry of South America and the specific dynamics underpinning this border area.

Dopo Malaga, Shanghai, Bruxelles, Alula e presto Seul, il Centre Pompidou prosegue le collaborazioni internazionali con l'apertura, prevista per il 2027, di un Centre Pompidou x Paraná a Foz do Iguaçu, in collaborazione con lo Stato del Paraná (Brasile). Situato nel cuore della Triplice Frontiera, dove si incontrano Brasile, Argentina e Paraguay, lo spazio metterà in mostra la creazione artistica del continente sudamericano e le dinamiche specifiche che animano quest'area di confine.

 

Le projet architectural est confié à Solano Benitez, architecte pa­raguayen primé à la Biennale de Venise en 2016, dont l’utilisation de la brique et de matériaux écoresponsables est la signature. En écho au bâtiment iconique du Centre Pompidou, l’édifice s’ouvri­ra sur une piazza ouverte au public et abritera des espaces d’ex­position, des salles de spectacles, des ateliers éducatifs, une bi­bliothèque de recherche, des laboratoires artistiques, ainsi qu’une offre de restauration et de boutique.

The architectural project has been commissioned to Solano Benitez, a Paraguayan architect who was awarded a prize at the 2016 Venice Biennial, whose distinctive style involves the use of bricks and eco-friendly materials. Echoing the iconic Centre Pompidou, the building will open onto a public square and will host exhibition spaces, performance halls, educational workshops, a research library, art studios and even a restaurant and a shop.

Il progetto architettonico è affidato a Solano Benitez, architetto paraguaiano premiato alla Biennale di Venezia del 2016 e il cui stile distintivo è l'uso di mattoni e materiali ecocompatibili. Richiamando l'iconico Centre Pompidou, l'edificio si aprirà su una piazza pubblica e ospiterà spazi espositivi, sale per spettacoli, laboratori didattici, una biblioteca di ricerca, laboratori d'arte, nonché un ristorante e una boutique.
