Cette rétrospective présente
la production de Medardo Rosso (Turin, 1858 – Milan, 1928) à travers quelque 50
sculptures en bronze, plâtre et cire de l’artiste, ainsi que près de 250
photographies et dessins mettant en évidence l’approche expérimentale et
transmédiale de l’artiste.
Featuring around fifty of his sculptures and two hundred and fifty photographs and drawings, the exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Basel offers a rare opportunity to discover Medardo Rosso’s (Torino, 1858 – Milano, 1928) oeuvre in a comprehensive retrospective.

Elle propose d’en apprendre
davantage sur son œuvre pionnière qu’il réalisa à Milan et à Paris au tournant
du siècle, mais aussi sur la portée contemporaine de son art, et offre en même
temps la base pour redécouvrir l'histoire de la sculpture moderne.
The exhibition invites the audience to learn more about his pioneering activities in turn-of-the-century Milan and Paris as well as the significance of his art in a contemporary perspective, while at the same time providing the basis for a new investigation of the history of modern sculpture.
La
mostra invita il pubblico ad approfondire gli aspetti pionieristici
dell’artista nella Milano e nella Parigi di fine secolo e il significato della
sua arte in una prospettiva contemporanea, fornendo al contempo le basi per una
nuova indagine sulla storia della scultura moderna.
