Après l'inauguration en 2021 de la sculpture en marbre ʺUtopiaʺ au Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, un important parc de sculptures d’environ 50 hectares situé au Grand Rapids, dans le Michigan, l'exposition ʺJaume Plensa : Un nouvel humanismeʺ explore la poétique de l'artiste espagnol (Barcelone, 1955) autour de thèmes humains universels tels que les rêves, le désir, la justice et la mortalité.

After the 2021 opening of his marble sculpture Utopia at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, a major 120-acre sculpture park in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the exhibition “Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism” – through March 15, 2026 – l explores the Spanish artist's (Barcelona, 1955) poetics surrounding common to our shared humanity such as dreams, desire, justice and mortality.

Dopo l'inaugurazione nel 2021 della scultura in marmo Utopia nel Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, un importante parco di sculture di circa 50 ettari situato a Grand Rapids, nel Michigan, la mostra Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism esplora la poetica dell’artista spagnolo (Barcellona 1955) attorno a tempi comuni alla nostra umanità, come i sogni, il desiderio, la giustizia e la mortalità.

Bien que l'œuvre de Plensa se caractérise par une diversité de formats et de techniques expressives, la condition humaine demeure le sujet principal de son art, qui embrasse le personnel et le collectif, l'individuel et l'universel. Présentant des sculptures monumentales et intimistes ainsi qu'une sélection d'œuvres bidimensionnelles couvrant quatre décennies de la carrière de l'artiste, l'exposition, jusqu'au 15 mars 2026, constitue la première rétrospective de cet artiste de renommée internationale aux États-Unis.

While Plensa’s oeuvre is marked by diversity in format and media, the human condition remains the primary subject of his art, which traverses the personal and collective, individual and universal. Featuring both monumental and intimate-scaled sculptures and select two-dimensional works that span four decades, this is the first retrospective of this internationally acclaimed artist in the United States.

Benché l’opera di Plensa sia caratterizzata dalla diversità di formati e tecniche espressive, la condizione umana rimane il soggetto principale della sua arte, che attraversa il personale e il collettivo, l'individuale e l'universale. Con sculture monumentali e intime, e una selezione di opere bidimensionali che abbracciano quattro decenni della carriera dell’artista, la mostra in corso fino al 15 marzo 2026 rappresenta la prima retrospettiva di questo artista di fama internazionale negli Stati Uniti.
