Hard times
Architects are certainly going through a tough period at the moment. There are over five hundred thousand professional architects working in Europe at the present time, one hundred and fifty thousand of them in Italy, all trying to get to grips with an economic recession on one hand and the globalisation of architectural design on the other, leaving little room for technical-cultural innovation. All this is causing serious problems and resulting in a downsizing of architectural firms, which are now being forced to broaden their range of interests.
