Construite à partir du cœur  de la collection réunie depuis plus de cinquante ans par François Pinault, l’exposition dédiée à l’art minimal, jusqu’au 19 Janvier 2026, explore l’évolution globale et internationale de ce mouvement depuis le début des années 1960, où toute une génération d’artistes a initié une approche radicale de l’art. Ces artistes s’emparent de matériaux naturels ou artificiels — souvent les plus simples et les plus disponibles — pour créer des situations où le corps du visiteur est directement sollicité, attirant également l’attention sur le lieu même de l’exposition. L’œuvre ne se situe plus tant au niveau de son contenu que dans l’expérience réelle qu’elle propose.

Built around the core of the collection assembled over a period of more than fifty years by François Pinault, the exhibition dedicated to minimalist art, running until 19th January, 2026, explores the global-international evolution of this movement from the early 1960s, when an entire generation of artists adopted their own radical approach to art. These artists use natural or artificial materials - often the simplest and most easily available - to create situations directly engaging the onlooker’s body, also drawing attention to the exhibition space itself. The artwork is no longer defined so much by its content as by the experience it offers.

Costruita a partire dal nucleo della collezione riunita in oltre cinquant'anni da François Pinault, la mostra dedicata all'arte minimalista, aperta fino al 19 gennaio 2026, esplora l'evoluzione globale e internazionale di questo movimento a partire dai primi anni '60, quando un'intera generazione di artisti diede avvio a un approccio radicale all'arte. Questi artisti si avvalgono di materiali naturali o artificiali – spesso i più semplici e facilmente reperibili – per creare situazioni che coinvolgono direttamente il corpo del visitatore, attirando l'attenzione anche sullo spazio espositivo stesso. L'opera d'arte non è più definita tanto dal suo contenuto quanto dall'esperienza vissuta che offre.

À travers sept sections thématiques — Lumière, Mono-ha, Équilibre, Surface, Grille, Monochrome, Matérialisme —, l’exposition retrace la diversité de ce mouvement, en explorant ses dimensions nord-américaines (Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Ryman…), sud-américaines (Lygia Pape), asiatiques (Lee Ufan, Nobuo Sekine, Kishio Suga…), moyen-orientales (Rasheed Araeen) et européennes (Gunther Uecker, François Morellet…). En prélude de "Minimal", Pinault Collection consacre jusqu’au 26 janvier 2026, la première exposition personnelle en France à Lygia Pape (1927-2004), artiste essentielle de l’avant-garde brésilienne et pionnière d’un art performatif intimement lié aux questions sociales et politiques. Intitulée "Tisser l’espace", cette exposition rend hommage à l’intention structurelle de l’artiste et traverse une sélection de ses œuvres  majeures.

The exhibition’s seven theme  sections – Lumière, Mono-ha, Équilibre, Surface, Grille, Monochrome, Materialism – retrace this diverse movement, exploring its North American (Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Ryman…), South American (Lygia Pape…), Asian (Lee Ufan, Nobuo Sekine, Kishio Suga…), Middle Eastern (Rasheed Araeen), and European (Gunther Uecker, François Morellet…) aspects and facets. As a prelude entitled 'Minimal’, the Pinault Collection is displaying Lygia Pape’s (1927-2004) first solo exhibition in France running until 26th January, 2026, a key figure of the Brazilian avant-gardes and a pioneer of performance art closely linked to social and political issues. Entitled 'Weaving Space,' this exhibition pays tribute to the artist's structural intent and showcases a selection of her main works.

Attraverso sette sezioni tematiche – Lumière, Mono-ha, Équilibre, Surface, Grille, Monochrome, Matérialisme – la mostra ripercorre la diversità di questo movimento, esplorandone le dimensioni nordamericana (Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Ryman…), sudamericana (Lygia Pape…), asiatica (Lee Ufan, Nobuo Sekine, Kishio Suga…), mediorientale (Rasheed Araeen) ed europea (Gunther Uecker, François Morellet…). Come preludio “Minimal”, la Collezione Pinault dedica, fino al 26 gennaio 2026, la prima mostra personale in Francia a Lygia Pape (1927-2004), figura chiave dell'avanguardia brasiliana e pioniera della performance art intimamente legata a questioni sociali e politiche. Intitolata "Weaving Space", questa mostra rende omaggio all'intenzione strutturale dell'artista e presenta una selezione delle sue opere principali.
