Rafael Viñoly Beceiro (1 June 1944 – 2 March 2023) was a uruguayan architect naturalized american. born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on june 1, 1944, he grew up and studied in Argentina. He attended the University of Buenos Aires, obtaining a diploma in architecture in 1968 and a master's degree in Architecture and Urban Planning in 1969.

In 1978, he moved with his family to the United States. In 1983, he founded the architectural firm "Rafael Viñoly Architects PC" in New York. In 1989, he got the commission for the project of the Tokyo International Forum, which, completed in 1996, is considered by many to be Japan's most important cultural complex.

Viñoly has linked his name to dozens of bold works, created on six continents: museums, performing arts centers, conference centers, sports facilities, banks, hotels, hospitals, laboratories, recreational places, commercial, industrial and educational facilities, residential complexes. Some of his most famous works include the London skyscraper 20 Fenchurch Street (known as the “Walkie-Talkie”) and the New York tower 432 Park Avenue.
