Phoenix Island is located in Sanya City in the province of Hainan. It is a man-made island covering 365,000 m² and surrounded by the sea. Phoenix Island is approximately 1250 m long and 350 m wide and is connected to the main island of Sanya by a bridge spanning 395 m. The Olympic torch began its journey from here back in 2008.
