Depuis les premières productions abstraites de l’artiste jusqu’à ses représentations emblématiques de fleur et de paysages du Sud-Ouest des États-Unis, cette grande rétrospective rende hommage à Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986), l’une des femmes peintres les plus importantes du XXe siècle et  figure marquante de l’art moderne américain. 

 

With a major retrospective on Georgia O’Keeffe (1887–1986), the Fondation Beyeler is dedicating the first exhibition of 2022 to one of the most significant artists of the 20th century and an outstanding figure in modern American art. From O’Keeffe’s earliest abstractions to her iconic depictions of flowers and landscapes of the American Southwest, the retrospective offers an in-depth survey of the artist’s work including rarely seen paintings from public and private collections. The exhibition examines Georgia O’Keeffe’s particular way of looking at her surroundings and translating them into new and hitherto unseen images of reality. 

 

Dalle prime produzioni astratte dell'artista alle sue iconiche rappresentazioni di fiori e paesaggi degli Stati Uniti sud-occidentali, questa grande retrospettiva rende omaggio a Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986), una delle pittrici più importanti del XX secolo e una figura di spicco figura nell'arte moderna americana. La mostra mette in evidenza il modo speciale di Georgia O'Keeffe di osservare l'ambiente circostante e di tradurre la sua visione in immagini della realtà originali e mai viste prima.
