L’ Harrison McCain Pavilion est une nouvelle extension de la Beaverbrook Art Gallery, la première galerie d'art de l'Est du Canada fondée en 1959. Depuis lors, la galerie s'est agrandie pour inclure jusqu'à 7 000 œuvres d'art, une résidence pour artistes, un théâtre polyvalent, un jardin de sculptures et de nouveaux espaces d'exposition.
The Harrison McCain Pavilion is the new addition to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Eastern Canada's first art gallery founded in 1959. Since then, the gallery has grown to include up to 7000 works of art, an artist-in-residence studio, a multi-purpose theatre, a sculpture garden, and new gallery spaces.
L’Harrison McCain Pavilion è il nuovo ampliamento della Beaverbrook Art Gallery, la prima galleria d’arte del Canada orientale fondata nel 1959. The elegant newly built pavilion expresses the Beaverbrook Art Gallery's mission to bring together art and community on approximately 850 square meters manifests the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s mission to bring art and community together. Through the structure’s fanned façade, passers by are given the opportunity to engage with the provincial art collection from Queen Street, peering into the new public spaces.
L'elegante padiglione di nuova costruzione esprime la mission della Beaverbrook Art Gallery di riunire su circa 850 mq arte e comunità. Attraverso la facciata a forma di ventaglio della struttura, i passanti hanno l'opportunità di interagire con la collezione d'arte osservando i nuovi spazi pubblici.
À l'intérieur de l'édifice, un hall multifonctionnel favorise les relations et l'engagement du public grâce à une cafétéria, des espaces de services, une boutique de cadeaux et un service de billetterie. Réalisée en béton préfabriqué et verre, la courbe douce et discrète de la façade reflète celle de la rue Queen et du fleuve Saint-Jean avec une colonnade classique qui rappelle les arcades du quartier.
In the building’s interior, a multifunctional lobby fosters community engagement with a café, support spaces, membership and visitor services, a gift shop, and ticket hosting. Rendered in precast concrete and glass, the façade’s understated and gentle curve reflects that of Queen Street and the Saint John River with a classical colonnade that recalls the area’s porticos and porches.
All'interno dell'edificio, una lobby multifunzionale favorisce le relazioni e il coinvolgimento del pubblico grazie a una caffetteria, spazi di servizio, un negozio di articoli da regalo e un servizio di biglietteria. Realizzata in calcestruzzo prefabbricato e vetro, la curva sobria e delicata della facciata riflette quella di Queen Street e del fiume Saint John con un colonnato classico che richiama i portici della zona.
L'élévation du bâtiment au-dessus de la plaine inondable tient compte de la montée du niveau d'eau du fleuve Saint-Jean, qui monte de façon spectaculaire autour de la Beaverbrook Art Gallery chaque printemps.
The building's elevation above the floodplain takes into consideration the potential for seasonal flooding of the Saint John River which rises dramatically every spring surrounding the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
